Detailing your Acura RLX

The RLX is a rare, quiet Acura flagship that was usually bought by someone who kept it, and most are well maintained but worn in the soft spots: light leather on the driver's side, swirled clear coat on the roof and pitted chrome around the glass. We foam the leather, polish the paint lightly, seal the chrome and clean the rear seat as carefully as the front, because on an RLX the back seat usually carried family or clients.

What we watch for on a RLX

• Seacoast light leather shows denim dye and sunscreen; a foaming cleaner and a soft brush restore it evenly
• The dual screens and their gloss surrounds show fingerprints and scratches; a screen-safe cleaner and lint-free towel only
• Thin Honda-family clear coat on this era shows brush-wash swirls that a fine polish clears without chasing the paint
• The long rear seat gets used by family and clients, so the rear carpet and door panels usually need as much attention as the front
• Chrome trim around the windows pits in salt; we polish it and apply a sealant

Luxury cars: soft paint, delicate trim

Premium interiors use more leather, open-pore wood and gloss trim, and premium paint is often softer. We use gentler chemistry, soft microfibre and slower machine passes so nothing is marred.
