For owners who drive with a dog every week: cadence, seat covers, cargo liners, the shedding-season reset and what we use around pets.
Your dog rides along to High Park or the Bluffs, the vet, the cottage and the drive-through, and the car shows it. Hair woven into the seat fabric, nose art on the rear glass, slobber on the door panel, a line of nail scratches on the leather and that unmistakable lake-water smell from the last swim.
Auto Royale comes to your driveway or garage and resets all of it, but this page is less about a single clean and more about living with a dog and a car together. Our pet hair removal page covers how we lift embedded hair; here we cover what cadence makes sense, which covers and liners actually work, what to do at shedding season and what we use around animals. We are open 24/7, so the clean can happen while the dog is asleep inside.
Most dog owners we work with in the GTA land on an interior clean every four to six weeks and a full interior with shampoo and extraction twice a year, timed to spring and fall shedding. Between visits, a rubber brush and a cordless vacuum handle the cargo area in ten minutes. If the dog rides daily, or you have two, shorten the gap to three or four weeks and add a cargo-area enzyme treatment each visit.
A quilted hammock cover on the back seat catches most hair and mud, but hair still finds its way under the edges and into the seat crease, so we clean beneath it every visit and tell you when it is time to wash the cover. For SUVs and hatchbacks, a rubber or vinyl cargo liner with raised edges is the single best purchase: it keeps water, sand and hair off the carpet and lifts out to be hosed down. A soft fabric liner absorbs everything and makes our job harder, not easier.
Crates are fine with us. Leave it in and we clean around and under it, or pull it out first for a more complete clean of the cargo floor.
Twice a year a double-coated dog drops its undercoat and the car fills with fine, static-clinging hair in a week. That is the moment for a full interior: rubber brushes, compressed air to lift hair out of seams, HEPA vacuuming and extraction on fabric. Lake, river and Lake Ontario swims leave a smell that lives in the cargo carpet and the dog bed, so after cottage season we treat the cargo area with an enzyme cleaner and steam rather than just vacuuming it.
We avoid strong fragrances and leave no air freshener in the car, since dogs ride with their noses in the air and scented products bother them more than they bother you. Enzyme cleaners for odour and pH-neutral interior cleaners are the mainstays. On the day, keep the dog inside the house or on a leash away from the work area, since our vacuum and steamer are loud. Text us the breed, whether you use a cover or liner, where the dog usually rides and when the last swim was.
Typical time: A regular dog-owner interior takes 1.5–2.5 hours; the shedding-season full interior takes 2.5–4 hours depending on how much hair is in the fabric.
