Measured machine correction that removes swirls, scratches, holograms and oxidation from the clear coat, one-step or multi-stage.
Paint correction is the process of permanently removing defects from your clear coat: the spider-web swirls you see in sunlight, the straight-line scratches from a brush wash, the holograms left by a careless buffer, and the chalky oxidation on cars that have lived outside. It is done by machine, with abrasive compounds and polishes, levelling the clear coat until the defect is gone and the surface is flat enough to reflect light cleanly.
The part most people miss is that correction removes material. Clear coat on a modern car is thin, and every pass takes a little of it. Good correction is as much about measurement and restraint as it is about the machine. We measure, test, and remove only what is needed to get the result you are after.
Before any polishing, the car gets a full decontamination wash so no grit is dragged around under the pad. Then we read the paint under inspection lights and measure it with a paint thickness gauge, panel by panel. Thin spots, previous resprays and edges get flagged and are treated gently or left alone.
A test spot comes next. On a small section we try the least aggressive pad and polish combination that removes the defects, step up only if needed, and show you the result before committing to the whole car. That combination becomes the recipe for the rest of the vehicle. When the correction is finished, polishing oils are wiped off so you see the true finish, and the paint is protected with sealant, wax or a coating.
A one-step correction uses a single polish and pad combination that cuts and finishes at once. It removes most light swirls and brings back a lot of gloss in a few hours, and it is the right choice for most daily drivers and for cars being prepared for a coating.
A multi-stage correction separates the work: a heavier compound and cutting pad to remove deeper scratches and oxidation, then a finer polish to refine the haze that compounding leaves and bring up clarity, sometimes with a third finishing pass on dark paint. It takes most of a day, removes a higher percentage of defects, and is what show cars and black paint usually need.
The fingernail test is the rule of thumb. If a scratch does not catch your nail, it is probably within the clear coat and can be removed or heavily reduced. If it catches, it has gone through the clear, and polishing can only soften its edges; it needs touch-up paint or a body shop. Deep oxidation on old single-stage paint, etched bird droppings and water spots that have eaten into the clear each have their own limits, and after the test spot we tell you plainly what to expect.
Correction takes 4 to 10 hours depending on the size of the car, its condition and how many stages you want. We bring power, lighting and shade, and we prefer a garage, carport or a driveway out of direct sun because heat changes how polish behaves. Overnight and weekend appointments are available if you want the car back before Monday.
Typical time: Four to ten hours depending on vehicle size, paint condition and whether a one-step or multi-stage correction is chosen.
