Multi-stage correction, wheel barrels, engine bay and glass prepped in your garage ahead of the show or the shoot.
A show car gets looked at in a way no daily driver does: from a crouch, under direct sun or hard lighting, by people who know exactly where the shortcuts hide. The same goes for a photo shoot, where a lens finds holograms and dressing sling that your eyes skip over in the driveway. Auto Royale preps cars for Cars and Coffee mornings, cruise nights, judged shows and photographers, and we do it in your own garage so the car never leaves home before the event.
The work is sequenced over the week before, not crammed into one night. Correction happens early so protection can cure, and the last pass is the night before, when dust and water are the only things left to deal with.
Everyone cleans the hood. The points, and the photos, are decided in the places owners run out of patience.
A week or two before the event we do the paint correction, which runs 4–10 hours depending on the paint and how far you want to take it. A multi-stage correction leaves the paint ready for a coating or a sealant, and doing it early gives the protection time to cure before it meets the morning dew in a field in Markham or a parking lot off the 427.
The night before, the car gets a careful wash or a rinseless wash if it is already clean, the wheels and barrels are finished, glass is polished, tires get a matte or satin dressing that will not sling, and the interior is dusted and vacuumed one last time. In the morning you drive to the show and do a quick wipe-down on arrival.
A camera cares about reflections more than cleanliness. Fine swirls and buffer trails that are invisible in your garage show up under a flash or at golden hour on a black car. For shoots we finish the correction with a fine polish and inspect the panels under a swirl-finder light from several angles before calling it done.
Tires get a matte finish, because glossy dressing reads as cheap in photos and throws onto the quarter panels during rolling shots. We blow water out of mirror housings, badges and the grille so nothing drips a streak down the paint between frames.
A garage-kept car should not have to sit in a shop lot or be driven across the city for prep. We bring water, power and our own lighting, and we work inside your garage or in the driveway in the evening or overnight. For enthusiasts who prefer to watch, ask questions or do the final wipe-down themselves, that works for us too.
The drive to the show undoes some of the work, especially on a humid morning with dew on the way in. Keep a bottle of detail spray, a dozen clean microfibre towels and a small blower or a soft brush for the grille in the trunk. Spray, wipe in one direction with a fresh side of the towel each pass, and leave the tires alone unless they picked up dust on the way in.
Typical time: Paint correction takes 4–10 hours a week or two before the event, and the final wash, wheels, glass and interior pass takes 2–3 hours the night before.
