Detailing your Maserati MC20

The MC20 is a carbon-tub supercar with butterfly doors, and the exposed carbon in the sills gets scuffed every time someone climbs out. We wipe it with a soft cloth and nothing abrasive, clean the Alcantara that covers most of the cabin with a suede-safe product and dust the engine by hand through the rear vents. The Cielo's glass roof is washed like paint, and the low splitter is checked for ramp scrapes before any polishing.

What we watch for on a MC20

• Climbing over the MC20's wide carbon sills scuffs the clear coat on the weave; we wipe them with a soft microfibre and keep polish and abrasives away
• The Cielo's electrochromic glass roof is cleaned with a glass-safe cleaner inside and foam and a soft mitt outside, never a brush
• Alcantara across the dash, seats and wheel darkens with hand oils and needs a microfibre-specific cleaner and a soft brush
• The car is very low and the front splitter scrapes on garage ramps; we inspect it before polishing and discuss paint protection film
• The rear engine cover vents collect leaves and dust during storage; we vacuum and wipe the engine area by hand and never pressure wash it
