Mouse and rat droppings, nesting material and chewed debris cleaned from engine bays, cabins and trunks.
Rodents move into cars in fall and winter, looking for warmth and quiet. A car parked beside a Scarborough ravine, a Mississauga construction site or a cottage-country driveway is a regular target.
We handle the clean-up. We do not trap or treat rodents, and we want to cover what to do first, because droppings and nesting material should be handled with care, not swept or blown out.
Cleaning too early or too roughly is where people get into trouble, so we go slowly.
Wear gloves and a mask if you plan to look yourself, and call us once you have seen enough.
Do not vacuum dry droppings with a regular vacuum or use compressed air, since that sends dust into the air. Open the doors, ventilate for a while, and wet droppings with a disinfectant spray before wiping.
Get a mechanic to check for chewed wiring, then arrange pest control if rodents are still active. We clean after both.
Mice love the space under the hood, near the air filter box and cabin air intake. We remove nests by hand wearing gloves and a mask, bag the material, and wipe affected surfaces. Cabin air intakes sit at the base of the windshield, and a nest there can push debris through the vents, so we check that area before we finish.
We then clean around the area with controlled moisture, avoiding electrical connections. We will not pressure-wash anything electrical.
Droppings hide under seats, in glove boxes and under the spare tire. We lift them, extract carpet and steam hard surfaces. Urine marks get enzyme treatment.
Chewed foam and wiring are repairs for a shop, not for us.
Spare tire wells and trunk floors deserve a look too. Mice collect insulation and fabric scraps there, and we remove it all, then wipe the area down. Carpet fibres that held urine get enzyme treatment and extraction.
We do not treat active infestations or confirm that a car is rodent-free. Large nests, heavy contamination, or dead animals deep in the vehicle may need a specialist.
Rodents come back to places that already smell like a nest. After cleaning, check parking spots near brush, garbage or stored birdseed. Peppermint oil and similar home remedies have limited evidence behind them, so we do not rely on them.
For cars stored over winter, a clean cabin, no food and a sealed garage matter more than any scent. A new cabin air filter is worth fitting, since nests often sit near the intake and the old filter can hold odour and debris.
Typical time: About 2–4 hours depending on the extent of the nesting.
