Detailing your Ferrari F8 Tributo

The F8 is the last of the twin-turbo V8 Ferraris, and its S-Duct nose and louvred plastic engine cover are the two surfaces that need the most thought. We brush the duct clear of leaves and bugs, clean the Lexan louvres with a plastic-safe product and correct the paint lightly before a coating. Spider hardtops get their seals cleaned, and the splitter and side skirts get checked for ramp scrapes before anything is polished.

What we watch for on a F8 Tributo

• The S-Duct in the nose channels air through the hood and collects leaves, bugs and grit; we clean the duct with a soft brush and foam
• The louvred Lexan engine cover scratches easily and cannot take glass cleaner with ammonia; a plastic-safe cleaner and a plush microfibre only
• On the F8 Spider the folding hardtop's seals and drain channels collect grit that stops the roof sealing cleanly; we clean the seals and clear the drains
• The front splitter and the deep side skirts scrape on garage ramps; we inspect them before polishing and discuss protection film
• The F8's wide rear tires throw sand onto the rear quarters and the ceramic brakes dust the wheels lightly; a soft brush for the wheels and a tar remover for the quarters
