The Mach-E has become a common sight in Vaughan and Oakville driveways, often as a family's main car. What we watch for on a Mustang Mach-E

• The fixed glass roof has no shade on most trims, so interior plastics and the light grey ActiveX get a lot of UV — we condition the synthetic leather with a UV protectant rather than a conditioner meant for real hide
• Light grey Space Gray interiors show jean dye transfer on the driver's seat bolster; a gentle leather cleaner and soft brush lift most of it
• The frunk drains, so it is often used as a cooler or for muddy gear — rinse it out and dry it so it does not hold odour
• Door handles are small pop-out buttons set in the pillar; dirt collects in the recess and the glossy black trim around them scratches easily
• Tall 19–20 inch wheels with aerodynamic covers on some trims need the gaps behind the inserts flushed to get rid of brake dust
