The IS is the sport sedan that enthusiasts in Scarborough and Markham buy for reliability, and most are kept for years and washed often but not always well. We flush the spindle grille, decontaminate the white pearl paint that shows every speck of iron and polish lightly before a sealant. What we watch for on a IS

• The spindle grille has deep mesh that collects bugs and road grit; we flush it with foam and a soft brush before polishing the bumper

Luxury cars: soft paint, delicate trim

Premium interiors use more leather, open-pore wood and gloss trim, and premium paint is often softer. We use gentler chemistry, soft microfibre and slower machine passes so nothing is marred.
