Detailing your Lexus GS

The GS is the rear-drive Lexus that enthusiasts kept, and most are still in good hands with a lot of highway kilometres behind them. The soft clear coat shows brush-wash swirls that come out with a fine polish, the deep grille mesh gets flushed with foam and GS F brakes leave dust that needs an iron remover. Inside, the Flaxen leather gets foamed and brushed, and older cars often need a headlight restoration to match the rest.

What we watch for on a GS

• The spindle grille on 2013–2020 cars has deep mesh that collects bugs and grit; we flush it with foam and a soft brush
• Flaxen leather shows denim dye on the driver bolster and dust in the perforations; a foaming cleaner and soft brush restore it
• Lexus clear coat is on the softer side, so years of brush washes leave swirls on dark colours that a fine polish clears
• GS F cars have large Brembo brakes that bake dust into the wheel barrels; an iron remover and a long brush keep them clean
• Older third-generation cars often have hazy headlights and oxidized trunk lids that a restoration and a polish fix

Luxury cars: soft paint, delicate trim

Premium interiors use more leather, open-pore wood and gloss trim, and premium paint is often softer. We use gentler chemistry, soft microfibre and slower machine passes so nothing is marred.
