Detailing your Infiniti Q70

The Q70 and the M before it are big, comfortable Infinitis that were often bought for the V8 or the hybrid and kept for years, and the Q70L did a lot of chauffeur work in the GTA. We clean the rear compartment as carefully as the front, bring the leather back with a cleaner and a matte conditioner and dust the silver-powder wood dry. Outside, the soft clear coat gets a fine polish, and older cars get their headlights restored.

What we watch for on a Q70

• The white ash wood trim with its silver-powder finish is cleaned with a dry microfibre; dressings dull the effect
• Wheat and Java leather crease and go grey on the driver's side; a proper cleaner and a matte conditioner restore them
• Soft Infiniti clear coat on the long hood and roof shows swirls and etching; a fine polish and a sealant bring back the depth
• Q70L cars often did chauffeur duty, so the rear seat, rear door panels and rear carpet need as much work as the front
• Headlights on older M-badged cars are often hazy and a restoration makes the biggest visual difference

Luxury cars: soft paint, delicate trim

Premium interiors use more leather, open-pore wood and gloss trim, and premium paint is often softer. We use gentler chemistry, soft microfibre and slower machine passes so nothing is marred.
