Not every parking spot has a tap or a drain.
Not every parking spot has a tap or a drain. Condo garages, apartment lots and parking pads with strict rules about runoff make a hose wash impossible. For residents of Toronto in that situation, we use rinseless and waterless products, which clean the paint using a small amount of water or spray lubricant and a stack of clean towels.
The two methods differ. A rinseless wash uses a bucket of diluted product and wet microfibre towels to lift grime, then a dry towel to finish. A waterless wash is a spray-on lubricant that encapsulates light dust, wiped off panel by panel. We choose based on how dirty the car is, because heavy mud and salt need the rinseless route.
The key is using lots of towels, flipping them often, and never dragging dirt across the paint. That is why we say the towel count is the method. Residents near Briar Hill-Belgravia appreciate that it is quiet, there is no runoff, and nothing drips onto neighbours' cars, which keeps the building happy. Residents also like not needing a hose.
A rinseless wash leaves a thin layer of slickness, and the paint looks clean and glossy. It is not the right tool for a car caked in mud or thick winter salt, and we will say so before starting. In those cases we suggest a different approach. Most waterless visits take about an hour. Photos of the car help us judge it.

Old Toronto is a mix of downtown condo towers with underground garages, semi-detached and row houses with no driveway at all, and leafy streets in areas like Leaside and the Annex where cars sit on permit street parking, so we plan around a garage level, a laneway or a curb spot rather than assuming a driveway.
Heavy road salt and slush from November through March leave white film on lower panels, wheel wells and carpet mats, especially on cars parked outside on the street. Spring brings pollen and tree sap, and the lake air and downtown construction dust settle on paint all year.
Driving a car across downtown to a shop means congestion on the Gardiner or DVP, expensive parking and a long wait without your vehicle. A mobile detailer works at your condo garage, office lot or curb, so the car stays where you live and work.
We regularly work in Briar Hill-Belgravia, Forest Hill and Leslieville, and every other part of Toronto.
