Materials-first detailing for high-end cars: soft paint, Alcantara, carbon fibre, matte finishes and wheels that cannot take acid.
A high-end car is a collection of materials that each punish the wrong product. Soft clear coats that mark if you look at them, Alcantara that turns shiny with a conditioner, piano-black trim that scratches under a dry towel, diamond-cut wheels that an acid cleaner will cloud for good. Auto Royale details luxury and exotic cars in your own garage anywhere in the GTA, with a process chosen material by material.
Doing it at your home also means the car is not driven to a shop or left on a lot, and it never leaves your sight.
Many Japanese and some German clear coats are soft enough that a single wash with a gritty mitt leaves visible lines. Our wash on these cars is a foam pre-soak, a two-bucket wash with fresh mitts for every section, and a drying step using a blower and a sheeting rinse before any towel touches the paint. Piano-black interior trim gets a damp plush microfibre only, never a dry wipe, and never the same towel that did the door panels.
If the paint already has swirls, polishing a soft clear coat calls for a finishing polish and a soft pad with a light touch, not a heavy compound. We test a spot and show you the result before committing to a panel.
Alcantara is a microfibre fabric, not leather, and it should never see a leather conditioner; it goes shiny and matted. We clean it with a dedicated Alcantara cleaner, a soft brush and a dry microfibre, working to lift the nap, and we leave it alone after that. Nappa and semi-aniline leathers are more absorbent than coated leather, so we use a pH-neutral cleaner at low dilution, blot rather than scrub, and condition sparingly to avoid darkening.
Open-pore wood has no gloss lacquer to protect it, so it is wiped with a barely damp towel and nothing else. Metal trim, knurled dials and glass switchgear get a detail brush and a glass-safe cleaner. Screens and head-up display glass get a screen cleaner and a lint-free cloth.
Forged and diamond-cut wheels are finished with a thin clear lacquer that acidic wheel cleaners etch, and the resulting milky patches cannot be polished out. We use a pH-neutral wheel cleaner and an iron remover, soft wheel woollies behind the spokes, and separate towels. Carbon-ceramic brakes get no aggressive cleaners at all, and we tell you what we are using.
Exposed carbon fibre, on splitters, mirror caps, diffusers or roofs, has a clear coat over the weave that yellows and chalks under UV. We clean it like paint, polish it lightly if it has dulled, and seal it with a coating or sealant with UV blockers.
Matte finishes and satin wraps cannot be polished, waxed or dressed; anything that fills the texture creates a shiny patch that never comes out. We wash them with a matte-specific shampoo, remove bird droppings and sap with a matte-safe spot cleaner, and protect them with a product made for matte surfaces. Paint protection film is washed normally, but we avoid machine polishing over the edges and we are careful with pressure near the film seams.
We work inside your garage or on your driveway with our own water, power and lighting, and because we are open around the clock the visit can happen at six in the morning or ten at night. A full inside-and-out runs 4 to 6 hours; paint correction and coating take a day. We tell you up front what we will be using on each surface, and if there is a material we have not met before we research it rather than guess.
Typical time: About 4–6 hours for a full detail; add a day for paint correction or ceramic coating.
