The Jetta is a budget commuter in the GTA, often doing Uber shifts or university runs, so the cloth seats and the back carpet take the beating. We extract the slush and coffee out of the grey cloth, clean the V-Tex properly and get the scuffs off the hard plastic doors. On older cars the roof clear coat and the headlights are usually the visible problems, so a polish and a headlight restoration make a bigger difference than anything else.

What we watch for on a Jetta

• Light grey cloth on base cars soaks up slush and coffee and needs a hot-water extraction rather than a vacuum and spray
• V-Tex leatherette is tough and cleans up with a mild interior cleaner, but the perforated versions hold crumbs in the holes
• Hard plastic lower door panels scuff white from boots; a gentle cleaner and a matte dressing bring them back without shine
• Many Jettas run cheap wheel covers over steel wheels; we remove them when the owner agrees to clean the brake dust behind
• Older Jettas have clear coat failing on the roof and trunk lid and yellowed headlights; a headlight restoration is the best value job on them
