Car Detailing for Allergies — Dust Mites, Pollen and Pet Dander Out of the Cabin

HEPA vacuuming, high-temperature steam and hot-water extraction for dust mites, pollen, dander and mould spores. Fragrance-free by default.

★ Mobile — we come to youWe come to youOpen 24/7

If your eyes itch the moment the vents come on, or you sneeze through the first ten minutes of every drive, the car is probably the problem. A cabin is a small, sealed space full of fabric, and it collects everything: dust mites in the seats, pollen pulled in through the vents all spring, dander from a dog who rode in the back two years ago, and spores from a carpet that got wet last winter. Auto Royale comes to your home and takes that load down with equipment that captures allergens rather than stirring them up.

We also keep the chemistry to a minimum. Steam and extraction do most of the work, products are fragrance-free unless you ask otherwise, and the car is aired out before it is handed back.

What you are reacting to in the car

An allergy detail starts with knowing which of these applies to you, because the fix is slightly different for each.

HEPA, steam and extraction, in that order

A regular shop vacuum blows the finest particles straight back into the cabin. We use HEPA-filtered vacuums that trap them, working every seam, the seat rails, under the seats and the trunk. Then the seats, carpets and headliner get high-temperature steam, which deals with dust mites and bacteria without a chemical residue, followed by hot-water extraction on the fabric to flush out what the heat loosened.

Hard surfaces, seat belts and the plastic around the seats are steamed and wiped, since dander and dust settle there too. Leather seats are cleaned with a pH-neutral cleaner, and because they do not harbour mites the way cloth does, they are the easier case.

The vents, the cabin filter and the air you breathe

Vents are where pollen and dust live between drives. We blow the ducts out with compressed air while the HEPA vacuum captures what comes out, then steam the vent faces and the dash around them. The cabin air filter sits behind the glovebox on most cars and has been straining a winter of road dust and a spring of pollen; we will tell you if it is loaded. Replacing it with a carbon or high-efficiency filter is a cheap change that your mechanic can do or you can do yourself in ten minutes.

Fragrance-free by default

No air fresheners, no scented dressings, no finishing spray, unless you want them. For odours we remove the source rather than covering it. If an ozone treatment is needed for a smoke or pet smell, we run it only with your agreement and ventilate the car completely afterward, because ozone itself can irritate anyone with asthma or sensitive airways. For a car used by a child with asthma, tell us and we lean even further on steam and extraction.

Keeping the allergen load down between details

The detail resets the car; a few habits keep it there. Run the air on recirculate with windows closed through pollen season. Change the cabin filter every spring. Keep the dog on a washable cargo liner instead of the seats. A monthly HEPA vacuum of the seats and carpet, either on your own or as a maintenance visit from us, stops the mite population from rebuilding in the humid months.

Best for

Typical time: An allergy-focused interior detail with HEPA vacuuming, steam, extraction and vent cleaning takes 2.5–4 hours, with drying and airing out included before we hand the car back.

Detailing for Allergies — FAQ

Can detailing remove dust mites from car seats?
It can reduce them dramatically. High-temperature steam deals with the mites in the fabric, HEPA vacuuming captures the mites and the debris they feed on, and extraction flushes out what is left. Regular vacuuming afterward keeps the population from rebuilding.
My child has asthma. What products do you use?
Mostly heat and water: HEPA vacuuming, steam and hot-water extraction. Where we need a cleaner it is pH-neutral and fragrance-free, and we air the car out fully before returning it. We skip ozone unless you specifically ask for it.
Do you clean the vents and the cabin air filter?
We blow out the vents with compressed air while capturing the dust with a HEPA vacuum and steam the vent faces. We check the cabin filter and tell you if it needs replacing, which is a quick job for your mechanic or for you.
How often should someone with allergies have the car detailed?
A full allergy detail once or twice a year, timed for early spring before pollen and again in the fall, with a HEPA vacuum of the seats and carpet monthly in between. Dog owners usually need the full version more often.
Will the car smell like cleaning products afterward?
No. We use fragrance-free products, no air fresheners and no scented dressings, and we ventilate the car before handing it back. It should smell like nothing.
Is pet dander still a problem if the dog no longer rides in the car?
Yes. Dander bonds to fabric, the headliner and seat belts and stays active for a long time. A used car that carried a pet years ago can still trigger a reaction, and the steam-and-extraction sequence is what clears it.
Are leather seats better than cloth for allergies?
Generally yes. Leather does not hold dust mites or dander the way cloth does and wipes clean. If you have cloth seats, a fabric protectant after the detail makes them easier to keep vacuumed.
