Detailing your Volvo EX90

The EX90 is a seven-seat electric Volvo with wool seats, backlit wood and a lidar sensor on the roof, so we work carefully around all three. The wool gets a fabric cleaner and time to dry, the wood gets a damp cloth and the lidar pod gets a microfibre and glass cleaner with no pressure. The third row and cargo well get the family treatment from the tailgate, and the paint is sealed so the tall sides rinse clean all winter.

What we watch for on a EX90

• The lidar pod at the top of the windshield is cleaned with a soft microfibre and glass cleaner, never a brush or pressure washer aimed at it
• Wool-blend seats need a fabric cleaner and a soft brush, and must dry fully to avoid water rings; Nordico synthetic takes a mild cleaner
• The backlit wood trim is wiped with a damp microfibre only; sprays can get behind the lighting panels
• The third row and cargo well collect crumbs from kids; we fold the second row and work from the tailgate
• The fixed glass roof has no shade and is cleaned from inside with a glass-safe cleaner, and the closed front panel gets foam and a soft mitt
