The Panamera is a Porsche that gets driven every day in the GTA, often by someone who commutes on the 407 and has a chauffeur for the airport. The glass-look console and the open-pore wood inside need soft cloths and no sprays, and the frameless doors need their seals cleaned. The long hatch lets slush into the cargo carpet, so we extract it, and the E-Hybrid charge port gets cleaned by hand without water pressure.

What we watch for on a Panamera

• The glass-look haptic centre console on second-generation cars scratches and shows every fingerprint; a plush microfibre and a glass-safe cleaner only
• Frameless door glass leaves a grime line along the roof seal; we clean the channel so the windows stay clear after rain
• E-Hybrid cars have a charge port on the rear fender that collects salt spray; we clean the flap with a brush and damp cloth
• Opening the Panamera's hatch exposes the whole cargo carpet to slush every time groceries go in during winter, so we extract it rather than vacuum it
• Open-pore wood trim gets a damp microfibre only, and the Burmester speaker grilles are brushed dry

Luxury cars: soft paint, delicate trim
