Detailing your Lexus LS

An LS is a chauffeur's car as often as an owner's, and the rear compartment with its ottoman and massage seat gets the same attention as the driver's. We dust the cut-glass trim and pleated door panels dry, clean the semi-aniline leather gently and condition it so it stops absorbing dye. The soft Lexus clear coat gets a fine polish and a coating, and older LS 460 cars nearly always benefit from a headlight restoration.

What we watch for on a LS

• Kiriko cut-glass trim and the pleated door panels are cleaned with a dry microfibre and a soft brush; sprays would collect in the pleats and the glass facets
• The rear seat with its ottoman and massage functions is where chauffeur-driven owners sit, so the rear leather, carpets and controls get as much time as the front
• Semi-aniline leather is less protected than coated leather and absorbs denim dye and hand oils; we clean it with a gentle foaming product and condition it
• The long body and soft Lexus clear coat show swirls on dark colours; a fine polish and a coating keep the depth without chasing the paint
• Older LS 460 cars have hazy headlights and chalky trunk lids that a restoration and polish fix

Luxury cars: soft paint, delicate trim

Premium interiors use more leather, open-pore wood and gloss trim, and premium paint is often softer. We use gentler chemistry, soft microfibre and slower machine passes so nothing is marred.
