High-temperature steam and a dwell-time disinfectant on steering wheels, belts, handles, screens, vents and seats.
Sanitizing a car is not the same as cleaning it. A clean car looks good; a sanitized car has had the surfaces people actually touch treated with heat or a disinfectant for long enough to matter. Auto Royale does both, at your home or workplace anywhere in the GTA, with a process built around dwell time rather than a quick spray-and-wipe.
The demand for this comes from everywhere: rideshare drivers resetting between hundreds of passengers, parents after a stomach bug goes through the family, people who just bought a used car and want a fresh start, and anyone sharing a vehicle with coworkers. Whatever the reason, the method is the same and it is thorough.
Disinfectants only work on clean surfaces and only if they stay wet for the time the label specifies, usually several minutes. So we clean first: vacuum, wipe grime off hard surfaces with a diluted all-purpose cleaner, and clear the crumbs and dust that would otherwise shield what is underneath. Then the disinfectant goes on and is left to dwell rather than wiped immediately.
For fabric, carpet and crevices where a liquid cannot reach, we use a steamer running well above 100 °C at the tip. The dry vapour penetrates seams, seat belt webbing, vent louvres and the gaps around shifters and cup holders, and it leaves the material only slightly damp rather than soaked.
People touch more of a car than they think. Our list is the same every time so nothing gets skipped.
Steam is our first choice on fabric, leather seams, vents and plastics because it uses no chemicals and leaves no residue. The disinfectant is a product made for hard non-porous surfaces, diluted as the label directs. We keep both away from screens, which get a screen-safe cleaner and a microfibre, and we are careful with the liquid on soft-touch coatings and older leather that can discolour.
We do not fog the cabin with a mist and call it done. Fogging looks impressive but does not clean, and it cannot replace contact time on a steering wheel somebody has held for a thousand kilometres.
Vents collect dust and whatever the HVAC pulls in from the DVP. We steam the louvres and the ducts just behind them, then run the fan to clear moisture. The cabin air filter sits behind the glovebox on most cars and is usually overdue; we will tell you if it looks black so you can have it swapped at your next oil change, since a sanitized cabin with a clogged filter does not stay fresh for long.
It does not remove a smell on its own; a deep odour calls for source removal and an ozone or enzyme treatment. It does not treat mould growing in carpet padding, which needs its own remediation. And it does not lift upholstery stains. It pairs well with all three, and most customers book it as part of an interior detail rather than alone.
Typical time: About 1–1.5 hours on its own, or an extra 30–45 minutes added to an interior detail.
