Toyota's first mass-market EV in Canada has a few quirks a detailer notices right away: a fabric-covered dash panel that cannot be sprayed with cleaner, enormous unpainted black fender arches that fade, and no rear wiper on the early cars, so the back glass gets filthy in slush. We dry-clean the dash fabric, restore the arch plastic, and coat the paint and glass so winter grime rinses off. The front compartment is sealed electrical equipment, so we clean its plastics without water.

What we watch for on a bZ4X

• The fabric-covered dash panel cannot be sprayed with cleaner; we dry-brush it and spot-treat only
• Enormous unpainted black fender arches fade quickly and need a trim restorer, not a glossy dressing
• Early cars have no rear wiper, so the back glass films over in slush and benefits from a glass coating
• The front compartment is sealed electrical equipment; we clean the plastics there without water
• The charge-port door and its rubber seal collect road salt and should be wiped so the flap closes cleanly
