Detailing your McLaren 570S / 570GT

The 570 family was McLaren's daily-driver line, and the 570GT with its glass hatch and leather rear deck is the one that actually went on road trips. We clean the hatch glass like paint, condition the deck under it and wipe the carbon sills with a soft cloth. What we watch for on a 570S / 570GT

• The 570GT's glass rear hatch is cleaned with a glass-safe cleaner inside and washed like paint outside, and the leather deck under it is wiped and conditioned
• Dihedral doors expose wide carbon sills that get scuffed; a soft cloth and no abrasives keep the clear coat over the weave intact
• 600LT cars have exposed carbon aero and top-exit exhausts that soot the rear deck; a degreaser and a metal polish restore the tips and the carbon gets a coating
• The 570S Spider's folding roof has seals and drain channels that collect grit; we clean the seals and clear the drains so the roof seals tight
• The side intakes collect leaves and bugs; we clean them with a soft brush and foam
