Detailing your Audi TT

The TT is a design piece first, and its owners want the vents, the aluminum trim and the paint to look like the brochure. We brush the turbine vents without touching their built-in dials, polish the aluminum body gently and protect the roadster top with a fabric treatment. Most TTs in the GTA are stored for winter, so spring service is about lifting dust safely and refreshing protection rather than heavy correction.

What we watch for on a TT

• The turbine vents have climate controls built into their centres, so we clean the fins with a soft brush and never spray cleaner at the dials
• Aluminum body panels do not rust but they dent easily, so we are careful with pad pressure on the edges of the hood and fenders
• Roadster soft tops need a fabric cleaner and a water-repellent treatment, and the top should be dry before folding
• The coupe's rear seats are too small for adults and become a shelf, so dust and sun-fading on the rear leather are the usual issues
• After winter storage the paint carries fine dust that scratches if wiped dry; a rinseless wash and a sealant refresh is the right spring routine
