Blood from nosebleeds, cuts and minor accidents lifted from fabric and leather with cold-water enzyme methods.
A nosebleed on the way home from hockey, a scraped knee in the back seat, a pet with a torn paw. Blood in a car is usually small and stressful rather than serious, and it sets fast if the wrong thing touches it first.
The one rule that matters is cold water, never hot. Heat cooks the proteins in blood and fixes them into the fibre. We start cold, use enzyme cleaners made for protein stains, and work at your driveway or garage without anyone needing to see the seat.
We are usually called for small incidents, and we treat them calmly and privately.
Blot, do not rub, with a clean cloth dampened in cold water. Skip hot water, skip hydrogen peroxide on coloured fabric, and skip household bleach, which can mark the seat permanently.
If the stain has already dried, leave it alone and call or text us. A dry stain still responds, it just needs more dwell time.
On cloth, we apply a protein-digesting enzyme cleaner and let it dwell so it can break the stain apart. Then we extract with cool or lukewarm water, which pulls the dissolved blood out rather than leaving it behind.
Dark seats usually clear up well. Light grey or beige fabric, and older stains, may leave a faint shadow, and we say so before we start.
Drying matters as much as cleaning. We finish with a quick blot and airflow so the area does not stay damp and leave a ring around the treated spot. If any shadow remains once it dries, we can repeat the process on the spot while we are still there.
Leather is gentler work. We use a pH-neutral cleaner and soft brush, then condition afterwards. Perforated leather needs care so liquid does not run into the holes and foam below.
Seat belts stain easily because they are rubbed against clothing. We clean them in place without soaking, since saturating a belt can weaken the webbing.
Blood that soaked into foam may leave a faint mark or a slight smell. We target the source and tell you honestly what to expect. If the amount is large or from a serious injury, we may decline and point you to a specialist cleaner.
Hot water, bleach, and rubbing alcohol are the three most common mistakes. Heat sets the stain, bleach can lighten or pit fabric and leave a pale patch, and alcohol can spread blood into a wider ring on some materials.
A small amount of cold water and a clean cloth is the most you should do before we arrive. Anything stronger risks making a recoverable stain permanent, especially on light cloth seats and cream leather where any change shows up immediately.
Typical time: Typically 1–2 hours for a localized stain, more for large or aged marks.
