Suzuki left Canada over a decade ago, but the SX4 was a cheap AWD hatch that people kept, and the ones still around have done a lot of winters. We clean around any rust in the arches rather than scrubbing into it, extract the tired cloth, and assess the paint honestly before polishing what the clear coat can still give. The hard plastics inside take soft brushes. A sealant protects what is left of the finish.

What we watch for on a SX4

• Older cloth seats have absorbed a decade of use and respond to hot-water extraction
• Interior plastics are hard and scratch easily, so they are cleaned with a soft brush and mild cleaner
• AWD hatchbacks saw every winter, so salt film and rust around the arches are common; we clean gently around rust
• Paint is often faded or oxidized; we assess clear-coat condition before polishing
• Plastic hubcaps on steel wheels come off so the rims can be cleaned

Small cabins mean every surface is within reach of a stray coffee or a boot print, and the carpets take it all. Outside, compact cars live a hard life in parking lots and on the 401, so the lower panels collect salt and stone chips.
