The Dart had a short run but a lot of young drivers in Brampton and Mississauga bought one, and they are now cheap used cars that get driven hard. We dig out the hidden bin under the passenger seat, dust the ring around the dash bezel, extract the cloth and carpets and restore headlights that have gone yellow. The paint is thin, so we polish gently and protect it with a sealant so the colour keeps looking the way it did new.

What we watch for on a Dart

• The storage bin under the front passenger cushion is often full of forgotten items and crumbs; we lift the cushion and vacuum it
• The dash bezel with its ambient-light ring collects dust in the gap; a brush and compressed air clear it
• Dark cloth hides dirt until extraction; the water tells the story so we always shampoo
• Most Darts now have hazy headlights that restore well
• Thin clear coat on bright colours like Header Orange and Laguna Blue; keep correction to a fine polish
