The Macan is the Porsche most GTA families actually drive, so it arrives with school-run crumbs, brake dust on the wheels and a lease that will be inspected. We clean the button-filled console with brushes, extract the rear carpet and dissolve the brake dust out of the wheel barrels before polishing them. The electric Macan swaps an engine bay for a front trunk and two charge port doors, which we clean by hand without spraying water.

What we watch for on a Macan

• The button-heavy console on 2015–2021 cars has dozens of crevices around the switches; we clean them with a soft brush and a lightly misted microfibre
