Detailing your Rolls-Royce Spectre

The Spectre is an electric Rolls-Royce with fibre-optic stars in the doors as well as the roof, so a lot of the cabin is cleaned with a dry brush and a barely damp cloth. We keep sprays away from the Starlight panels, vacuum the lambswool mats with a soft brush and clean the charge port by hand. The illuminated grille gets foam and a brush, the long coach door seals get cleaned and the 23-inch wheels get an iron remover.

What we watch for on a Spectre

• The Starlight door panels are leather with fibre-optic points; we brush them dry and spot clean with a barely damp cloth, never a spray
• The Spectre's charge door collects grit and water; we brush the flap, wipe the surround with a damp cloth and keep water pressure well away from the connector
• The Spectre's illuminated grille and the retracting Spirit of Ecstasy are washed with foam and a soft brush, and the pressure washer never points at either
• The longest coach doors Rolls-Royce has built have very long seals; we clean the jambs so the doors close silently
• Twenty-three-inch wheels with aero-influenced designs trap brake dust in their flat spokes; an iron remover and a long brush keep them clean

Luxury cars: soft paint, delicate trim

Premium interiors use more leather, open-pore wood and gloss trim, and premium paint is often softer. We use gentler chemistry, soft microfibre and slower machine passes so nothing is marred.
