Detailing your Lexus RC

The RC is a coupe that enthusiasts keep because it never gives trouble, and most owners wash it often enough that our job is refinement. We flush the deep grille, dissolve the RC F brake dust out of the barrels and polish the soft clear coat lightly before a coating. The optional carbon roof gets coated against UV, the red leather gets foamed and brushed, and the rear seat tracks get the crevice tool.

What we watch for on a RC

• The optional carbon fibre roof on the RC F needs a light finishing polish and a coating so the clear coat over the weave does not yellow
• The spindle grille is very deep on the RC and collects bugs and grit; foam and a soft brush clean it without scratching
• RC F brakes produce heavy dust that bakes into the wheel barrels; an iron remover and a long brush are needed every wash
• The rear seats are reached by tilting the fronts, so crumbs and salt collect in the seat tracks and at the base of the rear bench
• Rioja and Circuit Red leather show dust in the grain and dye transfer; a foaming cleaner and soft brush restore the colour
