A CLS is a long, low four-door that flatters in dark colours and shows every swirl in sunlight, so paint correction is usually the main event. We decontaminate, polish with a soft pad and protect the roof and deck lid that catch the most abuse. Inside, Nappa leather that has gone glossy from years of silicone sprays gets stripped and conditioned back to a satin finish, and the frameless door seals get cleaned so the glass stays clear.

What we watch for on a CLS

• Frameless door glass leaves a dirt stripe along the roof seal that streaks when the window drops; cleaning the seal channel fixes it
• The long, low roof and rear deck are where swirls show first on dark colours; a fine polish with a soft pad restores the gloss
• Nappa leather on older cars has often gone shiny from silicone products; a cleaner that strips the residue and a matte conditioner bring back the proper finish
• AMG versions have very wide rear tires that throw tar and sand onto the rear quarters, so a tar remover is part of the wash
• Rear seats are low and the doors are long, so salt stains on the rear carpet are usually along the sill edge where boots drag in

Luxury cars: soft paint, delicate trim

Premium interiors use more leather, open-pore wood and gloss trim, and premium paint is often softer. We use gentler chemistry, soft microfibre and slower machine passes so nothing is marred.
