Detailing your Infiniti Q50

The Q50 is the twin-turbo sedan that a lot of young GTA drivers bought for the power, and it has usually been through a lot of brush washes that the soft clear coat did not enjoy. We correct it with a fine polish, seal it and dissolve the Red Sport brake dust out of the wheels. Inside, the two touchscreens get a lint-free towel, the light leather gets foamed and the tight rear footwells get the crevice tool and an extraction.

What we watch for on a Q50

• The dual touchscreens and their gloss surrounds show fingerprints and scratches; a screen-safe cleaner and a lint-free towel only
• Infiniti clear coat is on the soft side, so brush-wash swirls show badly on Black Obsidian and a fine polish and a sealant are the right combination
• Red Sport cars have larger brakes and 19-inch wheels that bake dust into the barrels; an iron remover and a long brush keep them clean
• Stone and Wheat leather show denim dye and dirt in the perforations; a foaming cleaner and a soft brush restore them evenly
• The rear footwells are tight and collect salt at the base of the bench; a crevice tool and an extraction handle it

Luxury cars: soft paint, delicate trim

Premium interiors use more leather, open-pore wood and gloss trim, and premium paint is often softer. We use gentler chemistry, soft microfibre and slower machine passes so nothing is marred.
