Milk, juice, coffee, pop and sunscreen spills chased below the surface: padding flushed, extracted, enzyme-treated and dried.
A full coffee tipped in the cup holder, a sippy cup of milk emptied into the back seat somewhere on the Gardiner, a two-litre of pop rolling around the trunk: a spill is a volume problem. The liquid you can see on the surface is the small part. The rest has gone through the carpet into the padding, under the seat track, into the console and around the seat-belt anchor. Auto Royale cleans up spills wherever your car is parked in the GTA, any hour, and we go after the part you cannot see.
This page is about liquid that soaked in, as opposed to a dried mark left behind; dried marks are covered on our stain removal page. With a spill, timing and depth decide everything. Milk left for two days in July becomes a smell that outlasts the car; pop left for two days becomes a sticky layer that collects grit and gets harder to lift.
Automotive carpet is a thin pile over a thick layer of padding that acts like a sponge, sitting on a bare steel floor with drain plugs and wiring under it. A cup of liquid spreads under the carpet far wider than the wet patch on top, and it pools in the low spots: under the front seats, against the transmission tunnel and in the rear footwells. In the cup holder and console, liquid runs down into the storage bin and sometimes into the switches and USB ports below. Seat spills go through the fabric into the cushion foam, which holds liquid and dries slowly.
Every spill gets the same structure: extract what is loose, flush the area with hot water and the right cleaner, extract again until the water runs clear, treat the padding, and dry with air movers. The chemistry changes with the liquid.
If a large volume went down, or the spill is more than a day old, extracting from the top is not enough. We release the sill plates and seat bolts, lift the carpet, and extract and dry the padding and the floor pan directly. It adds an hour or two and is the difference between a spill that is gone and one that sours again in a hot car in August. In a cup holder or console, the liner comes out and the channel is cleaned by hand.
Blot, do not scrub, with whatever absorbent material you have, pressing hard to pull liquid up from the padding. Remove the floor mat and stand it on edge to drain. Leave the windows cracked so the car does not become a greenhouse. Do not add water to milk or pop; it drives them deeper. Then call or text us and tell us what spilled and how long ago, so we arrive with the right cleaner loaded.
Typical time: Usually 1–2 hours for a single spill, and 2–4 hours if the carpet needs to be lifted; add drying time.
