Detailing your Audi Q6 e-tron

The Q6 e-tron is Audi's newest electric SUV and its dash is wrapped in fabric rather than plastic, which changes how we clean it. The soft-wrap material gets a brush and a fabric cleaner, the curved screens get a lint-free towel and nothing else, and the leather or microfibre seats get their own products. Outside, the frunk seal, the charge port flaps and the aero wheels take the time an engine bay would on a gas car.

What we watch for on a Q6 e-tron

• The soft-wrap fabric on the dash and door tops must not be sprayed with all-purpose cleaner; we vacuum it with a soft brush and spot clean with a fabric product
• The curved OLED display and the optional passenger screen show fingerprints and should only see a screen-safe cleaner and lint-free towel
• The front trunk collects leaves and salt around its seal, so we clean the frunk and the seal rather than an engine bay
• The charge port flaps on the fenders gather grit; a brush and a damp cloth clean them without water pressure
• Aerodynamic wheels trap brake dust in flat spokes and the regenerative braking does not prevent it; an iron remover and a long brush keep them clean
