An Aventador is a wide, low V12 with scissor doors, and the carbon sills under those doors get scuffed by every shoe that climbs over them. We clean them with a soft cloth and nothing abrasive, polish and coat the Roadster's removable carbon roof panels and hand-polish the SVJ's wing. Matte cars get a matte-safe wash with no polisher, gloss cars get a light correction and a coating, and the splitter is checked before any of it.

What we watch for on a Aventador

• The scissor doors expose wide carbon fibre sills that get scuffed by shoes; we clean them with a soft cloth and keep abrasives away from the clear coat over the weave
• Roadster roof panels are carbon fibre and store in the front trunk; we polish and coat them and clean the seals they sit in
• Matte Ad Personam paints cannot be polished; a matte-specific wash and sealant are the only products that touch them
• The car is very wide and low, so the front splitter and the deep side skirts scrape on ramps and curbs; we inspect them before polishing
• SVJ cars have exposed carbon aero and a huge rear wing that are polished by hand and coated against UV yellowing
