Detailing your Mercedes-Benz B-Class

The B-Class was a Canada-only Mercedes for a long time, and the GTA is full of them in retiree hands. They tend to be well kept inside but tired outside, with oxidized paint on the roof and yellowed headlights that a correction and a headlight restoration fix. The upright cabin has a lot of glass to clean and a sliding rear bench whose rails hoard crumbs, so we work the interior slowly and finish with a conditioner on the Artico.

What we watch for on a B-Class

• The tall glass area makes the cabin bright and shows haze on the inside of the windshield, so interior glass is a bigger job than on a sedan
• Beige Artico on these cars has often been cleaned with the wrong products over the years and looks dull; a proper cleaner and a matte conditioner help
• The sliding rear bench leaves a track in the floor that collects crumbs and salt; we vacuum it with a crevice tool and clean the rails
• Older clear coat on the roof and hood is often chalky or oxidized by now, and the headlights are usually yellowed enough to benefit from a restoration
• A high floor and tall doors mean the door sills get a lot of shoe scuffs that a gentle cleaner removes

Luxury cars: soft paint, delicate trim

Premium interiors use more leather, open-pore wood and gloss trim, and premium paint is often softer. We use gentler chemistry, soft microfibre and slower machine passes so nothing is marred.
