Wet carpets, damp smells and leak damage cleaned with extraction, drying and mould checks. Electronics are not our scope.
A clogged sunroof drain, a window left open in a downpour, a flooded underground garage, a leaking door seal. Water gets into cars more often than you would think, and it does most of its damage after the first day.
Standing water in carpet and padding leads to mould and a damp smell within 24 to 48 hours. We extract the water, clean the carpet, and dry the interior as far as we can, working at your home or garage.
The sooner we reach it, the better the outcome tends to be, and the less likely mould is to appear.
Stop the source, whether that is a window, drain or seal. Remove floor mats and anything loose. If water is deep, do not start the car, since water near electronics and the battery is a mechanic's job.
Open the doors in dry weather and prop up wet items. The sooner moisture starts leaving, the better.
We use a wet extractor to pull water from carpet and pad, working in overlapping passes. Seats are extracted too, then we aim air at the floor using fans and open vents. Seat rails and under-carpet pockets are checked for pooling.
Drying can take a day or two. We can return to check on progress and re-extract if needed.
We also lift the carpet where it can be lifted, to check whether the foam pad underneath is wet. A pad that stays soaked after extraction will keep the smell alive, and we tell you if it needs removal or replacement by a shop.
If damp has been there for days, mould may appear on carpet backing and seat bases. We clean what we can reach and treat odour, but do not claim to remove mould that is deep in the structure. Our mould page covers that process.
Muddy or dirty flood water adds contamination, and we may decline if it is sewage or heavily contaminated.
We do not repair electronics, wiring, sensors or modules. If a car had water above the floor, an auto electrician should check the control units. Insurance claims for flood damage are between you and your insurer.
In the GTA, water problems follow a pattern. Spring thaw and heavy summer storms expose clogged sunroof drains and worn door seals. Winter brings wet boots, packed snow and slush that melts into carpet and never fully dries.
If you notice wet footwells after a storm, check the sunroof drains and window seals before it happens again. A quick extraction after the first leak beats a full clean-up after weeks of dampness.
Typical time: About 2–4 hours for extraction, with drying over the following day or two.
