Dealer decals, permits, bumper stickers and tape residue removed from paint, glass and trim without scratching.
Stickers go on easily and come off badly. Dealer decals, old parking permits, university stickers, faded bumper stickers and masking tape all leave a ghost outline or a sticky patch that collects dirt.
Peeling at them with a fingernail or a razor on paint is how scratches happen. We use heat, lubrication and the right solvent in the right order.
We handle dealer decals, window stickers, permits and tape, and we come to you across the GTA. It is often a quick job, and a good one to add to a wash before you sell or return a lease.
We warm the sticker with a heat gun or steamer to soften the adhesive, then peel slowly at a low angle with a plastic blade. This lifts most of the material in one piece.
What stays behind is dissolved with an adhesive remover or citrus-based solvent, wiped away with microfibre and followed by a wash so no solvent sits on the paint.
Patience beats force. Pulling hard on a cold sticker rips off the top layer and leaves the adhesive behind, which is the worst of both outcomes.
Paint tolerates solvent well when it is fresh, but older or repainted finishes need testing. Glass is the easiest, since a razor blade can be used flat and wet. Plastic trim and textured bumpers are the hardest because adhesive sinks into the grain.
Painted surfaces often show a ghost outline where the paint underneath has been shielded from sun. That is a difference in fade, not leftover glue, and it can be improved with polishing.
Inside the car, tape on trim and glue from phone mounts are handled with the same gentle approach.
Vinyl lettering that has cooked in sun for years breaks into pieces rather than peeling. This takes longer, since we work in sections, softening each one. Window stickers that have bonded to glass for a decade need patience and a fresh blade.
The same method works on tape residue, price tags, and the sticky film left by dealership plate frames.
Rubber eraser wheels are one tool we sometimes use on thick, aged adhesive, with care to keep heat low and avoid thinning the clear coat.
If the decal is covering damage, such as rust or a rock chip, removing it may reveal that. We point that out so you know what is underneath.
On wraps, matte paint and soft clear coat, we prefer to stop and discuss rather than risk marking the finish.
Sticker residue left alone collects dirt and turns black, so removal before a wash and sealant makes the finish look consistent.
Typical time: 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the number of stickers and how long they have been on.
