Cruzes are everywhere in the GTA, from a first-generation sedan in a Scarborough driveway to a late hatchback on the DVP every morning. The cabins use a lot of cloth, including fabric on the dash in older cars, which holds dust and needs proper fabric cleaning rather than a wipe. We extract the seats and carpet, clean the glossy centre stack and sort out the trunk. Outside the paint is thin, so we polish gently and protect it well.

What we watch for on a Cruze

• First-generation cars have a cloth insert across the dash and doors that holds dust and stains; we clean it with a fabric cleaner and a soft brush rather than a wipe
• Light grey and tan cloth interiors show salt rings and coffee quickly, so hot-water extraction is where most of the time goes
• Rideshare Cruzes need the rear seat, rear door pockets and seatback map pockets cleaned and sanitized
• Trunks are deep and the lid hinges intrude, catching bags; the carpet by the hinges tears and gathers dirt
• Clear coat on Summit White and Silver Ice Metallic is thin, so we keep paint correction to a fine polish and protect with a sealant

Small cabins mean every surface is within reach of a stray coffee or a boot print, and the carpets take it all. Outside, compact cars live a hard life in parking lots and on the 401, so the lower panels collect salt and stone chips.
