Yellow, foggy headlights are more than ugly.
Yellow, foggy headlights are more than ugly. The plastic lens has lost its factory UV coating, and the oxidized surface scatters light so the beam is dimmer on dark roads. Many drivers in Toronto notice it first at night, or when a safety inspection flags the lenses. Restoring them brings clarity back and helps the front of the car look years newer.
The process is hands-on. We tape off the surrounding paint, then wet sand the lens through progressively finer grits to remove the damaged layer. Next comes machine polishing to bring clarity back, followed by a fresh UV-resistant clear coat or sealant. That final step matters, because without it the lens will cloud again within months.
Restoration works on oxidation, haze and light yellowing. It cannot fix cracks, moisture trapped inside the housing or damage to the reflector behind the glass. If you live around Palmerston and park outside under sun all summer, the lenses tend to degrade faster, so restoring them sooner makes more sense than waiting until they are badly clouded.
Most pairs take around an hour or two, and we do it where the car is parked. Afterward, keep the lenses protected with a sealant or coating and avoid harsh chemicals. Call or text from Toronto, tell us the make and model, and send a photo of the lenses and we will say what is realistic.

Old Toronto is a mix of downtown condo towers with underground garages, semi-detached and row houses with no driveway at all, and leafy streets in areas like Leaside and the Annex where cars sit on permit street parking, so we plan around a garage level, a laneway or a curb spot rather than assuming a driveway.
Heavy road salt and slush from November through March leave white film on lower panels, wheel wells and carpet mats, especially on cars parked outside on the street. Spring brings pollen and tree sap, and the lake air and downtown construction dust settle on paint all year.
Driving a car across downtown to a shop means congestion on the Gardiner or DVP, expensive parking and a long wait without your vehicle. A mobile detailer works at your condo garage, office lot or curb, so the car stays where you live and work.
We regularly work in Palmerston, The Annex and Crescent Town, and every other part of Toronto.
